A person was hit by a train near Bailleul on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 5:38 p.m. The accident occurred in the countryside and not at the station.The judicial police officers are finishing their on-site investigations.

The SNCF (French National Railway Company) has suspended train traffic; the TER (regional express train) that struck a person is stopped on the tracks, with the passengers still inside.

According to SNCF’s on-call passenger service, it is not yet known whether passengers will be transported by bus. A dozen trains have been cancelled in both directions between Lille and Hazebrouck. It could be a suicide, although this has not yet been confirmed.

Generally, a person-related accident requires a minimum of 1 hour 30 minutes and a maximum of 2 hours 30 minutes for response, during which time the tracks are closed. Trains are currently blocked between Lille, Armentières, Bailleul, and Hazebrouck.
