Having formed bonds as early as second grade at PS117Q in Briarwood, Queens, New York, Ross was someone whose loyalty and connection to others stood the test of time. Those early friendships became lifelong relationships built on shared memories, respect, and genuine affection.
Ross was widely admired not only for his intellect and accomplishments but for the kind of person he was at his core. A deeply faithful and practicing Jew, he lived by values rooted in tradition, principle, and compassion. Through his words and actions, Ross demonstrated what it truly means to strive to be a “mensch.” In the truest sense of the word, he embodied integrity, honor, and the courage to speak up for what he believed in. His character served as an example for those around him, reminding others of the importance of living with honesty, dignity, and moral clarity.
Professionally, Ross was an accomplished attorney and teacher, respected for both his knowledge and his ability to communicate with people from all walks of life. Ross was also, at heart, a proud New Yorker—the kind who carried the spirit of the city with him wherever he went. A devoted New York Mets fan, he represented that classic old-school New York personality: witty, thoughtful, deeply loyal, and always ready with a story. His humor and storytelling made him unforgettable in any room he entered. Friends and colleagues often remember him as a gifted raconteur, someone whose stories and laughter could bring people together and brighten even the most ordinary moments.
