Robinson Babcock Has Died,Cause of Death

The community of Winterville, North Carolina, is grieving the heartbreaking and sudden loss of Robinson Babcock, 62, who died in a hit-and-run motorcycle crash on the evening of March 11, 2026, in Pitt County. His tragic passing has left family members, friends, and neighbors deeply saddened as they cope with the loss of someone who meant so much to those around him.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, troopers responded shortly before 8:00 p.m. to a crash involving a motorcycle on U.S. 13 at U.S. 264 Alternate near Moye Turnage Road. Investigators reported that a pickup truck struck Babcock’s motorcycle, causing him to be thrown from the bike during the impact. Despite the quick response from emergency personnel, he sadly died from the injuries he sustained in the crash.

 

Authorities say the driver of the pickup truck fled the scene immediately after the collision. Witnesses told investigators that the suspect vehicle is believed to be a dark-colored pickup truck with significant damage to the right side. The truck was reportedly last seen heading south on U.S. 13 in the direction of Greene County.

 

Emergency crews from the Farmville Fire Department and the Bell Arthur Fire Department assisted at the scene, helping secure the area while investigators collected evidence. The roadway was closed in both directions for several hours as authorities worked to process the crash site, before finally reopening shortly before 11:00 p.m.

 

Robinson Babcock is remembered by many as a valued member of the Winterville community. As the investigation continues, authorities are asking anyone with information about the crash or the suspect vehicle to come forward and assist with the case.
