Michael Ribando Jr. Death, Obituary: Hammond, La. — The community is grieving the tragic loss of 46-year-old Michael Ribando Jr., who was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. The devastating incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. at the intersection of North Baptist Road and Sunset Acres while Ribando was riding his bicycle.
Authorities reported that Ribando was initially struck by one vehicle, whose driver stopped and reported the crash. Tragically, a second vehicle traveling in the opposite direction struck him a second time, briefly stopped, and then fled the scene. Ribando was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The second vehicle is described as a light-colored sedan traveling northbound on North Baptist Road before turning onto Wardline Road.
Michael Ribando Jr. was a cherished member of the Hammond community, and his sudden death has left family, friends, and neighbors in deep mourning. He is remembered for his kindness, his spirit, and the positive impact he had on those around him.
