It is with profound sadness that the Somers Volunteer Fire Department (SVFD) shares the sudden passing of Firefighter Frank Ritacco on Tuesday, March 10th, 2026. Frank’s loss is deeply felt by his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire community he served with unwavering dedication for a decade.

Frank joined the SVFD in 2016 and proudly served for 10 years, earning the respect, admiration, and friendship of everyone on the department. Throughout his time as a firefighter, Frank exemplified courage, integrity, and a selfless commitment to protecting others. His dedication went beyond duty; he approached every call with a steady hand, a calm demeanor, and a sense of pride in the life-saving work he performed. Frank’s legacy is defined not only by the countless lives he helped protect but also by the example he set for his fellow firefighters—showing dedication, teamwork, and compassion in every action.

Those who knew Frank remember him as more than a firefighter. He was a friend, a mentor, and a source of strength for the SVFD family.
