The community of Weedville, Pennsylvania, is mourning the tragic loss of David A. Kunes, 76, who died in a wrong-way vehicle crash on Wednesday morning, March 11, 2026, along Interstate 80 in Monroe Township, Clarion County.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the accident occurred at approximately 8:43 a.m. near mile marker 62.6. Authorities reported that Kunes was driving a 2017 Chrysler 300 eastbound in the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 when his vehicle collided head-on with a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado.

The pickup truck was driven by Joseph M. Maguire, 39, of Morrisdale. Investigators said Kunes was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Maguire, who was wearing a seatbelt, suffered suspected minor injuries and was transported to Clarion Hospital for treatment and evaluation.

Emergency responders from several agencies assisted at the crash site, including Leadbetter Towing, PennDOT, the Clarion Volunteer Fire Department, Clarion Hospital Ambulance, and the Clarion County Coroner’s Office. Crews worked together to secure the roadway and provide emergency assistance.

David A. Kunes’ sudden passing has deeply affected his family, friends, and the Weedville community.
