The incident also left another woman, 26, injured and hospitalized, while the father of both victims, 47-year-old Arnino Velasco Guanlao, died at the scene after being shot by a neighbor who intervened.
According to Puyallup police, the events began inside a family home in the 1200 block of 31st Street NW. A domestic dispute escalated and spilled into a neighbor’s driveway and garage. During the confrontation, Guanlao, armed with a handgun, allegedly shot both of his daughters. Maningat, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities. The 26-year-old victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where she is currently recovering from her injuries.
The violent encounter ended when the homeowner intervened, shooting Guanlao. He was also pronounced dead at the scene. The neighbor who fired the fatal shot has not been taken into custody, and the Puyallup Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances that led to this heartbreaking tragedy.
