58-Year-Old Aljean Ledet Killed in Terrebonne Parish Crash; Speeding Pontiac Strikes Unrestrained Chevrolet
Aljean Ledet Death, Obituary: Chauvin, Louisiana – On March 25, 2026, shortly after 6:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop C began investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 56 and Josie Court in Terrebonne Parish. The crash tragically claimed the life of 58-year-old Aljean Ledet of Chauvin.
According to preliminary investigation findings, a 2006 Pontiac G6 was traveling northbound on LA Hwy 56 at a high rate of speed. At the same time, a 2008 Chevrolet Colorado, driven by Aljean Ledet, was also traveling northbound on the same highway, ahead of the Pontiac. For reasons still under investigation, the Pontiac failed to slow down and collided with the rear of the Chevrolet.
Following the initial impact, the Chevrolet exited the roadway to the right and overturned. Ledet, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Pontiac, who was also unrestrained, sustained serious injuries and was transported to an out-of-area hospital for medical treatment.
Routine toxicology samples were collected from both drivers and will be analyzed as part of the investigation. Louisiana State Police is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine the exact cause of the collision.
Troopers are urging all motorists to take responsibility when behind the wheel. Avoid driving while impaired, fatigued, or distracted, and follow all traffic laws. The importance of seatbelt use cannot be overstated, as it remains one of the most effective ways to prevent serious injury or death in the event of a crash. Troopers remind drivers to ensure that every occupant in the vehicle is properly restrained at all times, no matter the circumstances.
While not all crashes are preventable, simple precautions like wearing seatbelts and following traffic laws can save lives.
