Keith Labelle Death, Obituary: In Loving Memory of Keith Labelle
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we mourn the passing of Keith Labelle, a long-time adjunct instructor whose impact on our academic community will be felt for years to come. Keith’s death is a profound loss to his family, loved ones, colleagues, and the many students whose lives he touched through his teaching, mentorship, and unwavering commitment to education.
Since the very inception of the program, Keith played a vital role in shaping its identity and success. He brought not only expertise, but also passion, creativity, and a deep belief in the potential of his students. His PRS370 Sports Branding course quickly became one of the most popular offerings, known for its real-world relevance, engaging instruction, and the enthusiasm Keith brought into every classroom. Students were drawn to his ability to connect theory with practice and to challenge them to think boldly and creatively.
Beyond the classroom, Keith was a mentor in the truest sense. Several students had the opportunity to serve as assistants in his URi-STAND program, an experience that extended learning beyond textbooks and lectures. Through this program, Keith empowered students with hands-on experience, professional confidence, and a sense of purpose. He took genuine pride in seeing his students grow, succeed, and discover their own paths.
Keith’s influence was not limited to curriculum or coursework. He was known for his generosity of spirit, his approachability, and his sincere care for those around him. He believed in building relationships, fostering collaboration, and creating spaces where students felt supported, inspired, and valued. His presence brought energy and warmth to the community, and his absence leaves a noticeable void.
While his professional accomplishments were significant, what will be remembered most is the way Keith made people feel—encouraged, capable, and seen. He gave freely of his time, knowledge, and encouragement, and in doing so, left a lasting mark on countless lives.
Our deepest condolences go out to Keith’s family, loved ones, colleagues, and all who were impacted by his work and friendship. Our community is undeniably less bright without him, but his legacy lives on in the students he mentored, the programs he helped build, and the passion for learning he inspired.
Keith Labelle will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever honored for the difference he made.
