John Gross Death, Obituary: The Northern York County community is mourning the tragic loss of 61-year-old John Gross, of Glenville, who died in a devastating head-on collision Thursday morning in North Codorus Township. His sudden passing has left family, friends, and neighbors heartbroken, as the life of a beloved member of the community was abruptly taken.
The fatal crash occurred around 6:35 a.m. on the 1700 block of Seven Valleys Road when John Gross’s northbound Ford F-150 veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a tractor-trailer. Emergency crews responding to the scene found the tractor-trailer engulfed in flames. Despite their swift efforts, John Gross was pronounced dead at the scene by a York County deputy coroner.
John Gross was a valued member of the community whose loss will be felt deeply by all who knew him. Friends and family remember him for his warmth, kindness, and the countless ways he touched the lives of those around him. The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 55-year-old man from Ohio, told authorities he was en route to Shrewsbury to pick up a load of eggs at the time of the crash. Both he and his trucking company fully cooperated with the Northern York County Regional Police Department during the investigation.
