Kara Beagle Liberty TX Accident – Obituary: A tragic Friday evening crash in Chambers County claimed the lives of four people, including three young passengers, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Officials said the crash happened around 7 p.m. on April 10 along FM 563, roughly 0.8 miles south of Interstate 10. A 2005 Chrysler 300 sedan left the roadway for reasons still under investigation and struck a tree, resulting in a deadly impact that claimed all four lives inside the vehicle.

Authorities identified the driver as Kara Beagle, 37, of Liberty. The passengers included 19-year-old Jay’Shawn Godfrey of Houston, along with two juveniles aged 17 and 15. Officials have not released the names of the minors. All four occupants were pronounced dead at the scene, and next of kin have been notified.

Texas DPS Sgt. Sammy Lattner said preliminary findings suggest that speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash. An autopsy has been ordered for the driver as part of the ongoing investigation, which remains active as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

The fatal crash has deeply affected the local community, particularly within the school district. In a public statement shared on Facebook, Liberty ISD Superintendent Dusty McGee confirmed that students from Liberty Independent School District were among those killed.

“We are heartbroken by the loss our community is experiencing following a fatal car accident involving LHS students last night,” McGee wrote. He urged the community to come together in support of grieving families while respecting their privacy during this difficult time.

McGee added that counseling services will be made available on campus beginning Monday, with additional support from members of the ministerial alliance. The district also shared grief resources online for students and families in need of assistance.

“This tragedy has deeply affected many of the families, friends, classmates, and teachers,” the statement continued, emphasizing compassion and unity in the wake of the loss.

Authorities said the investigation into the crash remains ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
