Tima J. Asp Death: Tima J. Asp, 31, Dies After Being Struck by School Bus in Hackensack Crosswalk Crash
The communities of Hackensack and Lodi are mourning the tragic loss of Tima J. Asp, 31, who died following a pedestrian crash involving a school bus on Tuesday morning, March 10, 2026.
According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the incident occurred around 8:27 a.m. at the intersection of South Summit Avenue and West Pleasantview Avenue in Hackensack. Officers from the Hackensack Police Department responded to reports of a collision involving a school bus and a pedestrian.
Authorities said Asp was crossing South Summit Avenue in a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a school bus operated by J&W Financial LLC. Emergency responders quickly arrived and transported her to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Despite life-saving efforts, she later died from her injuries.
Investigators from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit and the Bergen County Fatal Accident Task Force are conducting a joint investigation with the Hackensack Police Department. Preliminary reports indicate the bus driver was making a left turn from West Pleasantview Avenue onto South Summit Avenue when the crash occurred.
Officials say the driver remained at the scene and has been cooperating fully with investigators. At this time, authorities report there is no indication of criminal activity, and criminal charges are not expected.
Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Lodi Police Department, the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department, and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office.
