Madalyn K. Jalava Death, Obituary: The Troy, New Hampshire, community is grieving the tragic loss of Madalyn K. Jalava, 24, who died from injuries sustained in a residential fire on March 31, 2026.
According to the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office, Madalyn was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after the early-morning fire at 51 Morse Street in Troy. Despite life-saving efforts, she succumbed to her injuries.
Also lost in the fire was 56-year-old Benjamin P. Jalava, who was transported to Cheshire Medical Center in Keene and pronounced deceased. Both Madalyn and Benjamin were confirmed residents of the home. The results of autopsies remain pending.
Investigators from the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office continue to examine the origin and cause of the fire. While the investigation is ongoing, authorities have stated there is no indication the fire was suspicious.
