Fatal Crash in Jefferson Township, Cass County Claims the Life of Mishawaka Resident Todd Willingham

Todd Willingham Death, Obituary: JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, Michigan — Cass County Sheriff Clint Roach reports that a fatal crash occurred on Tuesday, March 25, 2026, at approximately 4:45 p.m. Deputies from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Oil City Road, south of M62, in Jefferson Township, Cass County. The victim of the crash has been identified as 66-year-old Todd Willingham of Mishawaka, Indiana.

The investigation revealed that Willingham’s vehicle was traveling southbound on Oil City Road when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway. The vehicle then struck a tree, causing significant damage. Willingham was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.

Assisting agencies on the scene included the Michigan State Police (MSP), SMCAS EMS, and the Cass Central Fire Department, all of whom worked together to secure the area and assist with the recovery process.

Sheriff Clint Roach and his team are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. At this time, no further details regarding the cause of the crash have been released.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office extends their condolences to the family and friends of Todd Willingham during this incredibly difficult time.
