Sheriff’s Office Investigates Double Fatal Shooting in Ravenna Township, Portage County, OH
Connie S. Edens and Donald A. Edens Death, Obituary: The Portage County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two individuals, identified as Connie S. Edens and Donald A. Edens, at a residence in Ravenna Township, Portage County, OH.
On Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at approximately 3:18 PM, the Sheriff’s Office received a request to conduct a welfare check at a home located in the 4000 block of Summit Road. The request was made after concerns were raised regarding the well-being of the occupants.
Upon arrival at the residence, Deputies attempted to make contact by knocking on doors and announcing their presence but received no response. While checking the exterior of the home, Deputies observed an individual slumped over in a chair inside the living room, visible through a window. Recognizing the urgent nature of the situation, Deputies made forced entry into the residence to ensure the safety of any occupants.
Once inside, Deputies located two unresponsive individuals and immediately secured the scene. The Portage County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau was called to respond and conduct a thorough investigation.
Preliminary examination of the scene determined that both individuals sustained fatal gunshot wounds. The female victim, Connie S. Edens (DOB: October 12, 1947), suffered a single gunshot wound to the back. The male victim, Donald A. Edens (DOB: December 7, 1955), sustained a single gunshot wound to the head.
Investigators are currently working to determine the circumstances leading up to this incident. Autopsies and additional forensic analysis are planned to provide further clarity. The investigation remains ongoing.
Sheriff Bruce D. Zuchowski released the following statement regarding the incident:
