Meharie Kidane Death, Obituary: With heavy heart, the Fresno, California, community mourns the tragic loss of Meharie Kidane, who was fatally shot Friday night in the 700 block of Fulton Street in downtown Fresno.

Fresno Police responded to the scene at approximately 11:15 p.m., discovering Kidane lying on the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to Fresno Police Lt. Michael Pierce, the shooting followed a gathering for a party just south of Inyo Street on Fulton, which escalated into violence. Officers are speaking with multiple witnesses who are cooperating with the investigation. At this time, authorities do not know whether the suspect arrived or fled on foot or by vehicle. Detectives are canvassing the area for surveillance video to determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
