Carmen Elizabeth Poland Death, Obituary: The Rocky Mount community is grieving a devastating and heartbreaking tragedy following a fatal crash that occurred on the afternoon of March 19, 2026, along Sunset Avenue. In a moment that has forever changed the lives of many, 24-year-old Carmen Elizabeth Poland and a 6-year-old child lost their lives as a result of the collision—leaving behind sorrow, unanswered questions, and an overwhelming sense of loss.

According to the Rocky Mount Police Department, the crash took place at approximately 2:00 PM east of Church View Drive and involved a white Chrysler 200 and a white Ford Transit. Carmen Poland was driving the Chrysler, accompanied by passengers, when the tragic incident occurred. Despite emergency response efforts, both Carmen and the young child were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Carmen Elizabeth Poland is being remembered as a young woman full of life, love, and promise. At just 24 years old, she carried dreams, relationships, and a future that was tragically cut short. The pain of losing someone so young is immeasurable, and the grief carried by loved ones is something words can scarcely comfort.

A 48-year-old female passenger in the Chrysler was transported to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, where she continues to receive treatment. Meanwhile, two adult male passengers in the Ford Transit sustained minor injuries and were taken to UNC Nash Health Care. As the physical wounds begin to heal, the emotional scars of this tragedy will undoubtedly remain.
